Project Overview:
Endfire Engineering has been engaged to deliver specialist fire protection works across multiple NAVFAC Pacific project packages at RAAF Base Darwin.
The works form part of a significant defence infrastructure program supporting aviation operations, logistics, maintenance capability and critical base infrastructure in the Northern Territory.
The NAVFAC Pacific project packages include P-923, P-941 and P-949, covering aircraft apron infrastructure, helicopter landing pads, aircraft rinse facilities, wash rack facilities, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron and Marine Wing Support Squadron facilities, a Type II aircraft maintenance hangar and telecommunications distribution facilities.
Endfire’s scope spans wet fire, dry fire, detection, alarm, suppression, sprinkler, fire hose reel, smoke exhaust and specialist system interface works across multiple buildings and infrastructure assets.
Endfire Scope: Endfire Engineering’s role includes design coordination, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and client training across a broad range of fire protection systems.
The scope includes:
- Fire Indicator Panels and associated fire system panels
- FDCIE, OWS and ROMTEK connections
- Notification Appliance Panels
- Battery cabinets, document cabinets and spares cabinets
- Surge protection arrangements
- Addressable smoke, heat, CO, NO2, IR and air aspirating detection
- NEMA weatherproof sounder strobes
- Weatherproof horn speakers
- Manual call points
- Visual alarm devices
- Sprinkler systems
- Fire hose reels
- Fire booster pump sets
- Smoke exhaust systems
- Inert gas suppression systems
- Cable tray, steel conduit, metal junction boxes, fixtures and fittings
- Fire-rated penetration works, registers, photos and penetration ID labels
- Equipment labelling
- System testing, commissioning, client testing and training
P-923 Scope
P-923 includes construction of an aircraft parking apron, helicopter landing pads, aircraft rinse facilities and a wash rack.
Endfire’s fire protection scope includes works across Substations A, B and C, as well as the Fire Booster Pump Station.
For Substations A, B and C, Endfire is delivering dry fire systems including Fire Indicator Panels, FDCIE/OWS/ROMTEK connections, battery cabinets, document cabinets, spares cabinets, surge protection arrangements, alarm systems, smoke detection, Ex/P heat detection, weatherproof fittings, cable containment, equipment labelling and fire-rated penetration works.
The Fire Booster Pump Station scope includes both wet and dry fire systems. Works include a 100mm sprinkler control valve, exposed sprinklers, pipework and pipework support, test drains, air venting valve, fire system panels, alarm monitoring of pumps, valves and switches, external strobes, horn speakers, manual call points, carbon monoxide detection, VADs, input/output modules, flow switches, valve tampers, fire booster pump sets, freight, design coordination, design calculations, shop drawings, pipe listing for fabrication, testing, commissioning and client training.
P-941 Scope
P-941 includes construction of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron and Marine Wing Support Squadron facilities.
Endfire’s scope includes fire protection works across the Maintenance Support Facility and Armoury Building.
Systems include fire panels, addressable detectors, alarms, cabling and cable management, sprinkler systems and fire hose reels.
P-949 Scope
P-949 includes construction of a Type II aircraft maintenance hangar and telecommunications distribution facilities.
Endfire’s scope includes fire protection works across the Aircraft Maintenance Hangar and Area Distribution Node Building.
Systems include fire panels, addressable detection, alarms, cabling and cable management, sprinkler systems, fire hose reels, smoke exhaust, air aspirating detection and inert gas suppression.
Project Significance
Defence infrastructure projects require a high level of technical coordination, documentation control and delivery discipline.
Across the NAVFAC Pacific works, Endfire is delivering fire protection systems for operationally important facilities where compliance, reliability, interface management and commissioning outcomes are critical.
The project demonstrates Endfire Engineering’s capability to deliver complex wet fire, dry fire and special hazard fire protection systems across defence, aviation and infrastructure environments.
