Endfire Engineering Completes Comprehensive Fire Protection for Caymus Fuel Farm in Darwin

Endfire Engineering is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Caymus Fuel Farm project in Darwin, Northern Territory. This significant project, spanning over 24 months, showcases our team’s full range of skills and capabilities, ensuring the safety of one of the most critical fuel storage facilities in the region.

A Collaborative Effort

Throughout the project, more than 30 of our dedicated team members contributed their expertise, making this a collaborative achievement. Our team brought together a variety of specialized skills to deliver a world-class fire protection system, designed to meet the high-risk demands of fuel storage.

Unmatched Fire Safety Capabilities

The fire protection system designed for the Caymus Fuel Farm is among the most advanced in the industry. The system is capable of discharging over 30,000 liters of water per minute at a pressure of 1200kPa, providing rapid response capabilities in the event of a fire emergency.

Key Elements of the Caymus Project

At the heart of the Caymus project was the need for a highly sophisticated fire protection system to safeguard the facility and its occupants. Endfire Engineering provided the following critical civil and fire services:

1. Design and Engineering

The project began with a meticulous design process, customized to meet the specific needs of the Caymus facility. Our design team ensured that every element of the fire protection system was optimized for efficiency, reliability, and compliance with stringent safety regulations.

2. Supply of Fire Protection Equipment

Endfire Engineering supplied a range of advanced fire protection equipment to meet the demands of the Caymus project. This included:

  • Fire Pumps and Water Storage Tanks: These essential components were supplied to ensure a constant and reliable source of water in the event of a fire.
  • Wet Fire Pipework: Installed to provide water throughout the facility to various fire suppression systems.
  • FireDos Systems and Foam Storage Tanks: These systems are critical for foam-based fire suppression, which is particularly effective in handling liquid and chemical fires.
  • Deluge Valves: These were installed to provide fast, automatic water release in high-risk areas.

3. Installation of Comprehensive Fire Safety Systems

Endfire Engineering took great care in installing a broad range of fire protection features across the Caymus facility, ensuring both automatic and manual firefighting capabilities.

  • Fire Hydrants and Fire Extinguishers: Strategically placed throughout the site to allow for rapid response in case of a fire.
  • Booster Valves: Installed to enhance water pressure in key areas of the facility where additional firefighting capacity is needed.

4. Fire Detection and Control

To ensure that fire hazards are detected and responded to quickly, Endfire Engineering installed advanced detection and control systems, including:

  • Fire Detection and Evacuation Systems: These systems are designed to detect fires early, trigger alarms, and guide personnel to safety through an efficient evacuation process.
  • Infra-Red Flame Detectors: These high-tech detectors provide an added layer of protection by identifying the presence of flames in sensitive or high-risk areas.

Commissioning and Testing

Once installation was completed, Endfire Engineering carried out a comprehensive commissioning process to ensure all systems were fully operational and met industry standards. Each component, from fire pumps to detection systems, was rigorously tested to guarantee the highest level of safety.

A Milestone Achievement

The completion of the Caymus Fuel Farm project in Darwin stands as a significant achievement for Endfire Engineering. Our team’s expertise, advanced engineering capabilities, and commitment to safety have resulted in a system that not only meets but exceeds industry standards. With the successful design, supply, installation, and commissioning of this critical infrastructure, the Caymus Fuel Farm is now equipped with one of the most sophisticated fire protection systems available.

Endfire Engineering is proud of the role we’ve played in safeguarding one of the Northern Territory’s key facilities. We look forward to future projects where we can continue to bring our world-class fire protection solutions to new and challenging environments.
